Compliance Requirements
Property compliance

Depending on your property location, there may be local regulations governing short-term rentals.
Common requirements
- Short-term rental permit/license: Many cities require a permit to operate a rental
- Business license: Some jurisdictions require a general business license
- Hotel/occupancy tax registration: Registration with local tax authorities
- Safety inspections: Fire, building, or health inspections
- HOA approval: If your property is in an HOA, you may need written approval
How we help
During onboarding, the Compliance step asks you to: 1. Confirm whether your property requires any permits 2. Upload any existing permits or licenses 3. Acknowledge your responsibility for maintaining compliance
We research common requirements for your property location and notify you of any known regulations. However, compliance with local laws is ultimately the property owner's responsibility.
Staying current
Regulations change. We monitor major regulatory changes in active markets and will alert you if something affects your property. You should also stay informed about your local short-term rental regulations.
Updating compliance documents
If you receive a new permit, renew a license, or need to update any compliance document: 1. Go to Messages 2. Send the updated document to the Parcel team 3. We will update your records and the Documents section
